CBC (Cannabichromene)
Cannabichromene (CBC) is a non-psychoactive cannabinoid naturally found in hemp. Unlike THC, CBC does not produce intoxicating effects and is most commonly present alongside other cannabinoids in full-spectrum and broad-spectrum hemp extracts.
CBC has attracted scientific interest due to its interaction with the endocannabinoid system. Early and pre-clinical research has explored CBC’s relationship with endocannabinoids such as anandamide, a naturally occurring compound involved in various physiological processes, and known as the bliss molecule. Much of the current understanding of CBC comes from laboratory and animal studies, and research in humans is ongoing.
Some studies have examined CBC’s activity in pre-clinical models related to mood and emotional regulation. While these findings are preliminary and not conclusive, they have contributed to growing academic interest in CBC and other lesser-known cannabinoids.
CBC is often discussed in the context of the “entourage effect,” a term used to describe how multiple cannabinoids may coexist within hemp extracts. Ongoing research continues to examine how cannabinoids like CBC interact within complex cannabinoid profiles.
